From the helm

A new watch on Galveston Bay.

Every watch begins with trust — trust in the crew, trust in the vessel, and trust in the course we set together. Under Commander Aaron Williams, the squadron is focused on five practical priorities for the year ahead.

  • Strengthen and modernize boating education.
  • Grow and retain membership through real connection.
  • Increase visibility in the Galveston Bay community.
  • Improve communication and member participation.
  • Stewardship of our waters — keep the bay we love.

"On Galveston Bay, we learn early that leadership doesn't announce itself loudly. It shows up steady. It shows up prepared. And it shows up when the water changes — because it always does."

— Cdr. Aaron Williams, Change of Watch, February 2026
